I joined to help with my anxiety and recovery after being sick.

It's almost been a full year since I joined.

I've gotten some of my strength back and even though I'm still a socially awkward person, I've gained a new crazy family who is excited to see me every time I walk through those doors, who doesn't judge me for who I am or what I look like and helps me fight through the constant negative feelings I have towards myself.

They really make me feel special.

It was the scariest/best decision I've ever made for myself. I couldn't be more grateful.

Thank you Natalie  🖤

I very tentatively signed up for my first class with Spencer Studios 2 years ago. At that point I had been chronically ill for 6 years, and had set the goal for myself to try and find sustainable ways to gradually increase my physical exertion capacity…so I decided to try a dance class, since that form of movement had been most familiar to my body in the past.

Pushing through the anxiety and walking into that very first class was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I met new friends who are now family, and found a way to enjoy movement again that my body tolerates better than anything else I’ve tried.

I never thought performing on a stage would ever be possible for me again, and although it definitely still has it’s challenges, Natalie is so supportive & inclusive of our diversities, and as the old saying goes - where there is a will, there is a way!

I am so grateful to have this safe space to dance, perform, and be in community with so many amazing humans. 🙏🏻

I joined Spencer Studios after I moved looking for a fresh start and was so nervous because I didn’t know anyone here and I didn’t have dance experience. But I have been welcomed with open arms into the most wonderful, supportive group of hype women and feel a sense of community for the first time ever.

I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and do something that terrified me (getting on stage!) and not only did I smash that goal but I had SOO much fun doing it! My confidence in myself and comfort with who I am has grown so much. I’m so grateful to be part of this group and they are stuck with me now cuz I cannot wait to keep dancing! 💕

I joined because when I started over at 52 I was a little lost. I told my family that being taken for granted and advantage of was exhausting but it sure helped pass the time!

So I started working out again and discovered the Spencer Method dance/exercise classes. I went to see a performance of the dance portion of the classes and decided I needed to try this…to challenge my comfort zones but also to celebrate the changes in my life, my body, my health and my re-found joy in life.

I found such amazing support and energy from the women I met. They are my dance family, the women I admire and support and respect, who inspire and encourage me, even on days I felt like shutting down. Little things, like someone I didn’t really know, commenting on a “signature move” of mine, made me realize that in this group not only was I seen and heard, but I was celebrated and appreciated. It fills my heart.

I was asked to go to the free sessions and I said “I’ll give you one, but that’s all I can commit to”.

Then I went… and that one class was all it took… I realized that dancing again had re-lit a fire that I thought had, long-since, burnt out. It did something to my soul and I couldn’t be more grateful.

I came to a free class at Spencer Studios alone one day and was nervous to show up by myself. Other women immediately introduced themselves to me and it didn't take long to become part of the dance family.

I've done 3 shows with Spencer Studios now, and have learned so much! Not just about dance, but also connection, growth, and self-improvement. I can't recommend her programs and classes highly enough.
